Temperature mapping is carried out in all warehouse units where temperature controlled storage is undertaken.
Each Warehouse is temperature mapped in an empty state (where possible) and in a full state (the loading is recorded on the mapping report) to determine the distribution under external temperature conditions. The mapping is performed in summer and winter to assess worse case scenarios. Temperature mapping is performed as per a written protocol. Protocol includes an assessment of the area, location of the probes, loading of warehouse and acceptance criteria, while external conditions are also monitored where there is an external wall. The protocol is signed prior to initiation of the study. The report includes a summary of the results, observations, conclusions and recommendations. The locations reading the maximum and minimum temperatures are identified. The maximum and minimum external temperatures recorded are noted in the report to determine if the warehouse was challenged with the external extremes.
Temperature mapping is repeated after significant modification to the premises, changes in stock layout or changes to the heating system and in any event is reviewed after 3 years.
Monitoring
The monitoring system is installed, validated and reviewed on an ongoing basis. The probes are calibrated on an annual basis on site by an approved external contractor. The probes are 3 point calibrated.
